Abraham Lincoln said, “And in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”
In the present world, most of the people are stuck in the 9 to 5 grind, yearning for the weekend to do something that they love to do. Now there are two view points. The first viewpoint says that we should try to change the circumstances and make them favorable according to our preferences. The second one states that if we can’t change anything we must try to except and adapt accordingly. People who can not change their lifestyle as per their choice they must try to find pleasure in the ordinary experiences they have every day.
There are a lot of crazy things one would like to do before dying. There is an old dictum- Time and tide wait for none. Time flies and we have to make the most of this fleeting moment. We can not keep sand in our fist for long. Similarly we all have to quit this stage after having played our roles well ( Shakespeare says- All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players; They have their exits and their entrances…
Graham Greene once said, “We are all of us resigned to death: it’s life we aren’t resigned to”. So we all must live life to the fullest. The list of what most of the people would like to do before they die varies from person to person. You would find thousands of books in the libraries across the globe with titles like places to see before you die, paintings you want to see before you die etc. A Hollywood movie, ‘The Bucket List’ is a story about two terminally ill men who escape from a cancer ward and head off on a road trip do all the things they have ever wanted to do, before they die. We all must live our live to the fullest and enjoy the last drops of this holy grail.
Only a few people die saying that they had made the most of their life. So how to do it? Ask yourself..
Am I doing what I love to do?
The lyrics of Bon Jovi’s famous song- I just want to live while I am alive, also indicate that we all must follow our passion and interests. Some people love whatever they do and some do only what they love to do. The latter perform better to the former. Loving what you do will give you a mental satisfaction. Figure out, what have you always wanted to do and also the fears that stopping you from doing it.
Do you take a break?
Do not rush headlong into routine tasks without taking break. Being busy all the time is a great way to stop all the possibilities of a breakthrough. Haste makes waste. It ceases creativity. You must try to step outside your comfort zone and you will see the transformation. Take a break from your routine life and book a furnished apartment at a beautiful hill station or beach. Put on your finally dance shoes and join some aerobics or dance camp, for a while. It will relax your mind and rejuvenate your soul.
Make sure you do not live a dull and sluggish life. Stagnation kills. Try to channelize your energy into something you’re passionate about. If you are doing it, pat your back and if you are not start doing it. You will be happy to see the transformation.
Stop existing and start living!
